Seth urges Mandaviya to make Pulse hospital AIIMS extension centre

Friday, 12 May 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth has written a letter to the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urging him to make an extension of AIIMS and make arrangements for treatment of patients under Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) at Pulse Super Specialty Hospital and Pulse Diagnostic and Imaging Centre after Enforcement Directorate (ED) Adjudicating Authority (AA) upheld the seizure of four properties of Pooja Singhal worth Rs 82 crore.

The ED had seized the property last year on December 1 and sent a complaint for confiscation of assets to the adjudicating authority. The properties include Pulse Super Specialty Hospital, Pulse Diagnostic and Imaging Centre on Bariatu Road at two plots located near Bariatu Road.

In a letter to the Union Minister, the MP has said that after the corruption charges against Ranchi-based IAS officer Pooja Singhal were proved, the Pulse Hospital run by her and its diagnostics were taken over by the ED and handed over to the government. This is Ranchi's state-of-the-art private hospital and test center, which is now under the government. This hospital has world class facilities and resources.

Seth has said that at present there is RIMS in the name of government hospital in Ranchi, where there is a lot of pressure of patients. The dependence of many nearby states including Jharkhand state is also on this hospital.. Seth has urged that this Pulse Hospital and Diagnostic Center should be operated as an extension center of AIIMS under the Ministry of Health, Government of India. Along with this, steps should be taken in this direction that patients should be treated here under CGHS.

The MP has urged for quick action in this direction, coordination with the concerned department and necessary action to run it as an extension of AIIMS.

The ED had started the money laundering probe on the basis of several FIRs lodged by Jharkhand Police and Anti-Corruption Bureau. Investigation revealed that the Proceeds of Crime (POC) arising out of the MGNREGA scam in the form of commission were deposited in various bank accounts of Pooja Singhal and her relatives.

According to the probe agency, the POC initially generated from MGNREGA was clubbed with unaccounted money amassed by the corrupt practices of Pooja Singhal and this money was channelled as capital/investment. Singhal, a 2000 batch IAS officer, was arrested by the ED on May 11 on charges of money laundering related to alleged irregularities in the MNREGA scheme.
