Ruling parties celebrate Dumri bypoll victory

Saturday, 09 September 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

On the victory of INDIA bloc (I.N.D.I.A) candidate Bebi Devi in Dumri by poll, on Friday, main partners of the State-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress and Rashtirya Janata Dal (RJD) expressed happiness and extended thanks to their party workers.

Encouraged by the victory of Baby Devi in Dumri assembly by-election, JMM has openly challenged the BJP and said that along with Dumri, 7 by-elections were held in different areas of the entire Country, in which BJP was badly defeated in 5. “This is the same situation as in 2004, when premature elections were held in the name of Shining India, Feel Good India and the NDA was badly defeated. Therefore, if BJP has courage, then it should hold Lok Sabha elections this year. We, the people of 'INDIA' bloc, will confiscate its candidate’s deposits on 10 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand,” said JMM's General Secretary cum Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya in a press meet.

Bhattacharya said that the slogan of Team India is - 'Judega Bharat, Jeetega India' has been effective in the by-elections. “This slogan will be more effective in the coming days. The way the team of Babulal Marandi and Sudesh Mahato created a situation of lies, deception and confusion in the entire election campaign of Dumri, it was completely rejected by the public. A conspiracy was hatched in the entire election but neither money nor strength worked. After sending three former CMs, one former Deputy CM and one Union Minister, the public once again approved the functioning of the Hemant Soren Government of the State. By-elections were held in Ghosi, UP, where SP had joined BJP after winning as MLA. The public also did the work of making them bite the dust,” he added.

The Party General Secretary also expressed gratitude to the voters of alliance partners Congress, RJD, JDU, Left, Aam Aadmi Party, Dumri for this victory.

Bebi Devi defeated her nearest rival, NDA and AJSU candidate, Yashoda Devi, by 17,100 votes. Baby Devi got 1,35,480 votes while Yashoda Devi got 1,18,380 votes. This victory of Baby Devi will have many far reaching consequences because this was the first election of Jharkhand after the formation of INDI Alliance in which a JMM candidate has won. How important this election was, it can be gauged from the fact that many veteran NDA leaders had reached Dumri in support of the NDA candidate. In this, the names of veteran leaders like Jharkhand BJP Chief, Babulal Marandi, AJSU Supremo, Sudesh Mahto, former CM, Raghubar Das, Aditya Sahu, BJP's Jharkhand In-Charge, Laxmikant Vajpayee and Union Minister, Annapurna Devi.

Victory celebration was held at Congress Bhawan, Ranchi after INDI Alliance emerged victorious in Dumri Assembly by-election. On this occasion, Congressmen congratulated the victory by bursting crackers and feeding each other laddus.

On this occasion, the State Congress Committee Chief, Rajesh Thakur said that this victory has decided the condition and direction of Jharkhand. “The people of Dumri have rejected the NDA alliance by voting for the India alliance. This is a seal on the development work being carried out continuously by the Grand Alliance Government,” he added. He expressed gratitude to the people of Dumri.

Thakur also said that now his wife Baby Devi will work to take forward the unfulfilled dreams of Late Jagarnath Mahato.

General Secretary of Jharkhand RJDl, Sanjay Prasad Yadav has congratulated the candidate of India Alliance on the victory of Baby Devi. He said that in view of the works of late Jagarnath Mahato and the development works being done by the Jharkhand Government, the people of Dumri have done the work of showing faith in the INDI Alliance. “RJD is grateful to the people of Dumri. The people of Dumri have done the work of fulfilling the message given by RJD National President Lalu Prasad Yadav by going to Dumri,” he added.
