An alert bank manager averted robbery by four armed robbers at ed Bank Financial Services Limited (Fast Gold Loan) Indrapuri branch on Wednesday.
An attempt was made to rob a bank in broad daylight in Bhopal. Four armed robbers entered the bank on Wednesday morning. After distracting the guard, they pulled out a pistol.
The manager was thrown in the cabin by hitting him. The manager cautiously switched on the siren switch in the cabin which forced all the four robbers to escape. Gold worth Rs 5 crores was kept in the bank.
Piplani police station in-charge Ajay Nair said that Vikrant Rajvaidya, a resident of Gulmohar Colony, is the manager of Fed Bank Financial Services Limited (Fast Gold Loan) Indrapuri branch. He said that at around 10 am on Wednesday they were working as usual.
He was sitting in the bank with the public relations staff. Guard Anil was standing near the channel gate. Meanwhile, a young man wearing a hat arrived. He told the guard that he had to inquire about the gold loan, and the guard let him in.
After a while, three other youths came to the guard. Pushing the guard, he pointed the pistol. After this all three entered inside. One of the robbers jumped from the counter and entered the manager's cabin when the manager stood up, a miscreant pushed him with the butt of the pistol and pushed him on the ground.
Meanwhile, showing understanding, the manager pressed the switch of the siren nearby. As soon as the siren rang, all the four robbers ran away in panic. Vigilance of manager Vikrant Rajvaidya saved a major incident from happening. The robbers had reached his cabin.
Police have found CCTV footage installed in places other than the bank. In these, suspicious people are seen going by bike. He has run towards Bilkhiriya. His location has also been traced till Bilkhiriya.
Police believe that the robbers have come by putting fake numbers on the bike. Police are raiding Sehore, Raisen in search of them. There is also a team of crime branch along with Piplani police.
Police believe that the miscreants had pistols. In such a situation, miscreants with criminal records must have carried out the incident. The fear of the miscreants was so much on the bank employees that after the incident they kept working by locking the gate.
The bank is on the first floor. There is a bike showroom on the ground floor. In the CCTV footage, a robber is seen coming first. He talks to someone on the phone for 10-12 seconds.
After disconnecting the phone, they climbed the ladder and entered the bank. The police are speculating that some criminal might be guiding her to enter the bank. After a while, the three robbers standing near the liquor shop also reach.
