All online delivery services—aside from medical deliveries—will be prohibited in the New Delhi district during the G 20 Summit. ” Cloud kitchen and food delivery or any commercial delivery like Amazon deliveries will not be allowed as we have stopped commercial services in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Online delivery services will not be allowed but medicine delivery will be allowed,” Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav said while addressing a press conference on Monday.
Ahead of the G20 Summit in Delhi, food delivery providers, restaurant chains, and food services businesses petitioned the government to permit deliveries as part of "essential services similar to the pandemic lockdowns." App-based taxis will be allowed with passengers with valid ID card/tickets," said Yadav.
Yadav further said essential services such as postal and medical services, sample collections by path labs will be allowed throughout Delhi. He further made it clear that there are no changes in the traffic advisory issued by the police on August 25.
Valid permissions granted for essential services will be "honoured", he added. New Delhi will be regarded as a "controlled zone," according to a number of limitations and closures that have been issued by the administration.
Yadav said that barring at the Supreme Court station, metro services will not be affected. "There might be closure of gates for 10-15 minutes at stations due to VIP movement and security restrictions. But apart from at Pragati Maidan (Supreme Court), metro services will not be affected at other stations," he added.
Yadav said people with hotel bookings in the New Delhi district and travelling from the airport or railway station will be allowed entry, subject to the production of boarding passes and booking documents. "There might be 10-15-minute delays due to security restrictions at that point but they will be allowed entry," he added. The Special CP said that from 5 a.m on September 8 to 11:59 p.m on September 10 New Delhi district will be termed the "Controlled Zone 1".
Parts of North and Central Delhi, around Rajghat, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and Shanti Van Chowk, will be treated as "Controlled Zone 2".
However, refuting the speculation of a lockdown in the city, the Delhi Police announced that there would be no lockdown during the G20 Summit.
"Dear Delhiites, don't panic at all! There is no lockdown. Just keep yourself updated with traffic information available on @dtpftraffic's Virtual Help Desk," the Delhi Police posted on X (formerly Twitter).
