NTPC Kerandari coal mine inaugurated, to produce 60 lakh tonnes annually

The mining work of NTPC Kerandari Coal Mining Project was successfully inaugurated on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Guest Senior Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chothe and Regional Executive Director of NTPC Partha Mazumder.

Coal mining work in NTPC Keredari will be done by opencast mining technique. The mine will have a peak production capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The Kerandari mine will produce high quality coal which will be used for power generation at various NTPC power plants.

Sub-Divisional Officer Vidyabhushan Kumar and Additional Superintendent of Police Shubhashish Kumar (IPS) also graced the ceremony by being present.

With the commencement of the Kerandari project, the enthusiasm of the rural people is visible. There is faith in the minds of the people that the project will lead to development of the village and the villagers. The villagers celebrated the ceremony with drums and music. About 2500 people enthusiastically participated in the Mine.

Chief Guest Manoj Ratan Chothe said that NTPC meets one fourth of the country's power generation and energy needs and for which coal is required, therefore the coal is now being produced from the allocated coal block to NTPC. Due to this, there has been change and development in the area, while the start of mining work in Kerandari will change the picture of this area, employment opportunities will increase, students will also get various training. And with the commencement of mining work in a peaceful manner, a good message will be sent across the district and the state, for which all the people's representatives, villagers, company officials should be congratulated. At the same time, special congratulations were given to MDO BGR for getting the cooperation of the people of the area in a short time.

Regional Executive Director Partha Mazumder in his address especially appreciated the contribution of local administration and villagers and also thanked NTPC's management team, Kerandari Project Head Faiz Taiyab and his team. In his address, Mazumder gave detailed info and statistics about the activities of coal mining projects and works under Corporate Social Responsibility.

NTPC Keredari Coal Mining Project warmly welcomed the guests in the presence of local public representatives and villagers. And on this occasion the guests were felicitated by giving plants and shawls. HoP of Kerandari project Faiz Taiyab said that we are getting full cooperation from the district administration and villagers, and because of their trust we have been able to start the mining operations of Keredari project. He further said that the project will always extend its full cooperation in the works of corporate social responsibility.

The mining operations in NTPC projects are committed towards meeting the power demand of the country. And this project will further strengthen this commitment. This is a significant moment for the project as years of planning and preparation have successfully put the project into action.

Panchayat Samiti Head (Keredari) Sunita Devi, Zilla Parishad Member (North) Geeta Devi, Bengwari Mukhiya Beli Kumari, Pandu Mukhiya Sakiba Khatoon were present on the occasion. HoP of Pakri Barwadih Project Shivam Srivastava, HoP of Chatti Bariat Project Animesh Jain, HoP of Badam Project K. Chandrasekhar and all senior officers of NTPC Project and BGR Company's Director Balakoti Reddy and all officers Satyanarayan, Ram Lakhan , Srinivas,  Harikishan were also present.
