The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) said that the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data had exposed the law and order situation in the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the NCRB data for the year 2022, maximum crimes against women took place in Uttar Pradesh.
CPI (ML) state secretary Sudhakar Yadav said in a statement issued on Wednesday that as per the claims of the Yogi government, the criminals are either in jails or have left the state.
“If there is even an iota of truth in this claim, then how come the ‘criminal-free’ state tops in crimes against women?” he asked.
Yadav said that to hide its failures, the government made such claims which did not match the ground reality.
The CPI (ML) leader said that those who gang-raped a student in BHU-IIT had not been arrested as yet.
“The victim student has not got justice. The students who demanded justice were silenced by filing cases against them. The morale of criminals is high because they have the protection of the power that be. In such a situation, why shouldn’t UP be at the top in crimes against women?” Yadav said.
