Prime Minister Narendra Modi scripted a new chapter in Chhattisgarh on Thursday by dedicating rail projects worth around Rs 6,350 crore in Raigarh.
He also laid the foundation stone of a 50-bed Critical Care Blocks in nine districts of Chhattisgarh and distributed 1 lakh sickle cell counseling cards to the screened population.
The railway projects include the Chhattisgarh East Rail Project Phase-I, a third rail line between Champa and Jamga, another third rail line between Pendra Road and Anuppur, and a MGR (Merry-Go-Round) system connecting Talaipalli Coal Mine to NTPC Lara Super Thermal Power Station (STPS).
Addressing a gathering in Raigarh, about 250 km from Raipur, the Prime Minister remarked that Chhattisgarh was taking a significant step towards development as railway projects worth Rs 6,350 crores were being unveiled in the state. He underlined that various new projects were being initiated today to expand the energy-producing capacity and improve the healthcare sector. He also mentioned the distribution of sickle cell counseling cards. Modi credited for all this the equal priority of his government towards development in every state.
“Chhattisgarh is a powerhouse of development," the Prime Minister said. He added that the country will forge ahead only if its powerhouses worked in full strength.
In the last nine years, Modi said the Central government had continuously worked for the multifaceted development of Chhattisgarh. The results of that vision can be witnessed today, he added.
Modi highlighted that with the new rail projects in Chhattisgarh, the cost and time of transporting coal from coalfields to power plants will be reduced.
Speaking about the benefits for the tribal areas, he highlighted the irrigation and drinking water facilities were provided to thousands with the water released from the mines. Speaking about the impact of sickle cell anemia on tribals, the Prime Minister underlined that the distribution of counseling cards was a huge step for the tribal society.
Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh Saruta and Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Singh Deo were present on the occasion.
