APR CONSTABLE FOUND HANGING IN MALKANGIRI
Malkangiri: A Constable working with the Armed Police Reserve (APR) was found hanging at a village in Malkangiri district on Friday. He wasn identified as Sushant Haldar. Locals found him hanging from a banyan tree near MV-42 village. They informed police about the incident. Police reached the spot and initiated a probe. The body was sent for postmortem. During search, police recovered some handwritten suicide notes of the deceased. Source said Sushant hailed from Umarkote in Nabarangpur district. He married at MV-42 village in Malkangiri district.
HIT BY TRAIN, ELEPHANT DIES IN ANGUL
Angul: An elephant died after being hit by a train near Dehurisahi in the Jarpada forest range of Angul district on Thursday night. The elephant was crossing the railway line. Forest Department officials rushed to the spot after getting information about the incident and further investigation was on. Locals expressed concern over the incident and said adequate measures should be taken by the forest and railway authorities to prevent such mishaps.
FOUR INJURED IN ACID ATTACK IN BALANGIR
Balangir: At least four persons were injured, one of them seriously, in an acid attack at Sahupada of the Bongomunda area in Balangir district on Friday. The victims were identified as Subash Sahu, Khaga Sahu, Jagbandhu Sahu and Sanju Sahu. A dispute between two families was said to the cause of the incident. More details were awaited.
KALINGA HOSP HOLDS BLOOD DONATION CAMP
Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Hospital Ltd (KHL) Bhubaneswar observed the World Health Day with a blood donation camp. Over 100 employees donated blood. KHL chairman Dr Sitakantha Dash and directors Rajesh Dash and Dr Jnanedu Mohapatra and CYSD founder Jagadananda were present.

YOUTH HELD FOR MURDERING BROTHER IN B’PUR
Brahmapur: One Sima Behera of the Gosaninuagaon PS area here came to the PS and reported that his son Budu was murdered by her other son Purna. The Gosaninuagaon PS IIC registered a case U/S 302 IPC and started investigation. Accordingly, accused Purnna Behera was arrested and further investigation is continuing, said Brahmpaur SP Dr Sarvana Vivek M in a Press release.

POOR WOMAN DIES IN SNAKEBITE IN GANJAM
Chhatrapur: A woman of Badapalli village under Subalaya panchayat of Ganjam block died of snakebite on THursday. Bhabini Das (40) was bitten by a poisonous snake in her backyard. She was taken to the Chhatrapur Hospital and later shifted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital Brahmapur, where she died. She is survived by three daughters and two sons and her husband is working outside the State as a bonded labourer. Her family does not have a proper house to stay or any land for cultivation. Former Zilla Parishad Member Kirtan Das has demanded immediate help to the poor family.
