I n an effort to promote eco-friendly and sustainable Diwali celebrations, a vibrant Green Diwali Mela was organised in Sector-18, Rohini. The event organised by NGO Sampurna was graced by Delhi BJP president Virender Sachdeva and attended by the former president of Delhi BJP and prominent MLA from Rohini, Vijender Gupta.
Sachdeva, in his inaugural address, said that in view of rising pollution in Delhi and its surrounding areas, the importance of such green Melas has increased.
“Sampurna is running various activities in Delhi and other parts of Bharat for the upliftment of the community by creating public awareness on issues like women's safety, women's economic self-reliance, environmental issues, water conservation etc. Sampurna keeps running awareness campaigns from time to time to keep Rohini clean and green, segregation of garbage, making organic manure and distribution of cotton bags to prevent use of polythene bags,” Sachdeva said.
He also argued Sampurna and its volunteers to enhance their efforts on various activities being run by the NGO. Sachdeva also visited various stalls in the Diwali Mela, interacted with the organizer of stalls and appreciated their efforts.
