: Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday declared the Institute of Health Science (IHS) as an autonomous college.
"The IHS has been accorded autonomous college status under the special category of the University Grants Commission (UGC),” said Pradhan.
He visited various units of the IHS such as model centres for PwD kids, Integrated Rehabilitation Centre, Clinic Club, Academic Block and Balmukunda Rehab Hospital and interacted with physically-disabled kids and teachers.
A conducive learning atmosphere has helped the Dibyang students learn quality education and various health service and therapy modes. Dibyangs’ efforts to come to the mainstream of society are really commendable," said Pradhan.
He said the institute would now chalk out its own syllabus and education system and issue certificates of its own.
“Odia scholar students have been studying in this institute. This means students are sensitive to its learning system. We have to take responsibility to make the learning system easy for them and fulfill their social basic needs,” said Pradhan.
