Centre of Happiness AIIMS Bhopal in coordination with Department of Surgery, AIIMS Bhopal conducted a session of happiness for Survivors of breast cancer and their families on Tuesday from 2:00pm to 4pm.
Centre of Happiness AIIMS Bhopal is continuously trying to emphasize role of positive psychology in healing as well as in overcoming the stress of treatment among patients as well as their families/caregivers.
Centre of Happiness has been established under the able guidance of Prof. Ajai Singh, Director and CEO, AIIMS Bhopal to strengthen the zeal of an individual to overcome the struggle and stress, patients and their family members undergo during the procedure of treatment. The centre of happiness works to enhance the positivity among the patients as well as the caregivers.
The month of October is observed as Breast cancer awareness month and on this occasion experts from department of surgery, psychiatry, physiology and yoga explained the role of positive thinking in overcoming the physical and mental stress of treatment procedures. The breast cancer survivors shared the ups and downs of their treatment journey and what strengthened their emotions during this phase.
Dr. Shyam Lal, professor Department of Surgery urged the patients and their caregivers to keep faith on their treatment and follow the directions/suggestions given by their treating doctors and never hesitate to ask queries.
Dr. Swagata brahmachari, additional prof. surgery explained that the fearless fight of patients against the disease helps them recover better and more strengthened. Dr. Ruchi Singh, additional professor, department of physiology emphasized that patients' caregivers too should seek out for support during the treatment of their dear one, and stay positive.
Dr. Snehil Gupta, associate professor, department of psychiatry made the patients realize that during this journey of diagnosis and treatment patients have emerged as knowing themselves better than ever before.
Dr. Jyotsana Rai, yoga trainer taught stress-relieving techniques to patients as well as caregivers as they too pass through enormous stress during the patient's treatment procedure. It was followed by an interactive session and many patients enthusiastically shared their stories and their journey through the treatment which in itself gave a positive motivation to many patients present in the Outpatient department of surgery.
