In the election year, the government is making every possible effort to help every class. The government employees can also get good news from the state government soon. The General Administration Department has now prepared a proposal to increase the retirement age of government employees by one year and sent it to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Notably, at present the retirement age of government employees is 62 years, but after the proposal is passed by the government, the retirement age will increase to 63 years. This is the second time in five years, when the retirement age is being increased. Earlier the retirement age was 60 years.
As per the government this is done to offset the shortage of employees due to retirement and slow recruitment process. To ensure work continuity in government offices under the present circumstances, the government is increasing the retirement age from 62 to 63 years. If sources are to be believed, the General Administration Department has prepared the draft and sent it to the CM's office.
In 2018, the Shivraj government had increased the retirement age from 60 years to 62 years. Last time too, before the assembly elections, the government had taken a decision on this matter. Earlier, in 1998, the Digvijay Singh government had increased the retirement age from 58 years to 60 years. However, this time the State Employees Welfare Committee had sent a proposal to the government that the retirement age should be increased to 65 years, but this proposal has not been agreed upon.
It is estimated that the number of employees who will retire in the next three years will be around 2.5 lakhs. In such a situation, less than two lakh officers and employees will be left in the offices. The number of employees to retire in the next 4 years is in lakhs. About 85 thousand crore rupees will be required as the amount to be given during retirement for the retiring employees. Due to all this, the government is going to increase the retirement age by one more year.
