A Class-X student was killed allegedly by three of his friends over a matter pertaining to money at Udit Nagar in Rourkela on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Rudra Narayan Padhi (15) of Nua Basti in Balughat. He was a student of the Developed Area High School in Civil Township here.
While two of the accused were being questioned at the Udit Nagar police station, another one reportedly absconded.
According to reports, Rudra’s friends had asked him to give them money for the purpose of spending two days ago. As he expressed his inability to help them due to lack of money, they telephoned him to come to Udit Nagar.
As he reached the place, the trio trashed him with lathi and crushed him to death with stones. The accused then dumped the body near Sarana Chhak, reports said.
Worried over Rudra’s delay in returning home, his parents lodged a missing complaint with the Raghunathpali police.
On Tuesday morning, locals spotted the body and informed his parents. Police recovered the body for postmortem and registered a murder case.
