An elevated road is being constructed on the Golden Rekha river in Gwalior to improve the city's traffic system and ease the way in future. In the second phase, the elevated road from Laxmibai Samadhi to Girwai Chowki will now be made wider than before. The width of this proposed 7.42-kilometer-long road will now be increased from 16 meters to 19.5 meters.
It is worth mentioning that on April 7, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had promised the party workers during a gratitude meeting organized by the BJP workers of South Legislative Assembly that if necessary, the government will expand the elevated road. With today’s decision to expand the width of the road the workers are opining that Scindia has kept his word. According to them this new proposal will surely improve the future traffic system in Lashkar area.
According to sources the total cost of the elevated road will be Rs 926.21 crore. In this, Rs 818.43 crore has been approved by the Central Government while Rs 107 crore will have to be given by the State Government. Earlier the cost of 16 meter width was Rs 886 crore. In which Rs 778.14 crore belonged to the Center and Rs 107.78 crore to the state government. Due to increase in width, there has been an increase of about Rs 40 crore.
