ED to grill Ranchi Sub-Registrar Tripathy today

Monday, 01 May 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Ranchi Sub-Registrar Vaibhav Mani Tripathy with a bunch of land documents on May 1 in connection with land scam. In the summons, Vaibhav Mani Tripathi has been asked by the ED to appear at the ED office in Henu on May 1 at 11 am. At the same time, along with sub-registrar Vaibhav Mani Tripathi, Jharkhand Social Welfare Director and Ranchi former DC Chhavi Ranjan will be questioned again. This time businessman Vishnu Aggarwal is also in the radar of ED. He has also been asked to appear by the ED.

Jharkhand Social Welfare Director Chhavi Ranjan has been asked to appear on May 4, while Agarwal will be questioned on May 8.

Apart from him, the central probe agency, has also summoned Kolkata’s additional registrar of assurance Trideep Mishra on May 2 and five others on May 3.

Notably, the ED had raided the premises of Tripathy along with Sub-Registrar Ghasi Ram Pingua, businessmen Amit Agrawal and Vishnu Agrawal in November last year. “Since then, many new revelations have been made. So, we need to verify all of them before we reach a finality and submit our prosecution complaint (equivalent to a chargesheet) in the court,” said an ED source.

Also, the ED has raided half a dozen land dealers and realtors, including Shyam Singh Bhatia from Jamshedpur, Shekhar Kushwaha, Priyaranjan Sahay and Vipin Singh from Ranchi on the inputs received from the six land brokers, including Afshar Ali, Imtiaz Ahmed, Pradeep Bagchi, Md Saddam Hussain, Talha Khan, Faiyaz Khan, and Circle Inspector Bhanu Pratap. They had been arrested after raids on April 11. Bhatia is supposedly close to Ranjan, posted at present as Social Welfare director.

In this case, a raid was conducted on 13 April. After which seven people were arrested. He was interrogated for about 12 days. After that, a total of seven accused including Bhanu Pratap Prasad, revenue sub-inspector of Bargain zone, Pradeep Bagchi, a fake seller of 4.55 acres of land occupied by the army, have been sent to jail. The allegations of tampering with the original documents of army land, forgery and taking holding numbers on the basis of fake documents, selling land by showing fake possession, etc. have been confirmed. Sources said that ED interrogated seven people arrested in the land scam case. Everyone accepted in front of Chhavi Ranjan during interrogation that Chhavi Ranjan is the mastermind of this entire land scam. It was on his advice that the land traders committed forgery. The role of the office-bearers of the Kolkata Registry Office is under suspicion because after extracting the original deed from the Registry Office itself, the accused put forged documents in it and tampered with the original document.
