A delegation of Lugu Buru Ghanta Bari Dhorom Garh met Chief Minister Hemant Soren at Jharkhand Ministry today. On the occasion, the delegation, through a memorandum, requested the Chief Minister to cancel the LUGU PAHAR HYDEL PUMPED STORAGE PROJECT proposed by Damodar Valley Corporation Limited on Lugu Pahad, the religious heritage of tribal Santhals.
On this occasion, the delegation informed the Chief Minister that Lugu Mountain is a historical and famous pilgrimage site of the tribal Santhali community, which is full of natural beauty and priceless forest wealth. It is a symbol of world class religious faith. Here, Lugu Baba Cave, the center of the sacred Mahadharma place of the tribals, is situated, which is famous all over the world by the name of Lugu Buru Ghanta Bari Dhorom Gadh. There is a rush of devotees here every Amavasya and Kartik Purnima.
The delegation urged the Chief Minister that keeping in mind the culture, customs, faith and unwavering faith of the tribals, the State Government should take the initiative and take appropriate decision regarding the cancellation of the LUGU PAHAR HYDEL PUMPED STORAGE PROJECT proposed by Damodar Valley Corporation Limited..
On the occasion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren assured the delegation that the state government will always keep the faith, tradition, culture and customs of the tribals intact. He said that since the formation of the government, preserving the religious places of tribals has been the priority of our government. It is also the moral responsibility of all of us to save Lugu Mountain, the religious heritage of tribal Santhals. Regarding the Lugu Pahad Handle Pumped Storage Project proposed by Damodar Valley Corporation Limited, the state government will take legal action and take a decision in accordance with public sentiments.
The CM said that tribal identity will be protected at all costs. Will not allow any kind of hurt to the sentiments of the tribals. He said that the decision on Lugu Pahad Handle Pumped Storage Project will be taken after legal consideration in public sentiment and public interest.
On this occasion, Minister (status) and Member-State Coordination Committee Yogendra Prasad, President of Lugu Buru Ghanta Bari Dhorom Garh Babuli Soren along with Jairam Hansda, Mithilesh Kisku, Dinesh Murmu, Ludu Manjhi, Hiralal Tudu, Sukhram Hansda, Durga Charan Murmu, Shankar Soren, Panchanan Soren, Binde Soren, Budheshwar Kisku, Bablu Hembram, Prem Tudu and others were present.
