Crime branch arrests three bookies, seizes cash, slips

Crime Branch Bhopal arrested three bookies who indulged in betting, and recovered Rs 13,440 cash and documents of transactions for placing bets to gamblers in Bairagarh were recovered.

On Tuesday Crime Branch Bhopal got information that three persons at house Bairagarh Gidwani Park are placing bets and providing slips for the same. The crime branch team reached the spot and on the spot saw that at a house near  Bairagarh Gidwani Park and were writing betting slips.

A white page on which numbers were written and total cash of Rs 13,440 was found from the accused.

The three accused were identified as Suresh alias Atal Kumar Pherwani(50) of  Gulani's house, Mini Market Bairagarh, Tikamdas Chawlani(65) of M.N. 36 Opposite Santoshi Mata Mandir Phatak Road Bairagarh Bhopal, he works at the tea shop and Lakhan Thakur (23) of New B/58 Bairagarh Bhopal and is involved  in selling vegetables.

In the investigation, the accused revealed that they collect bets and provide it to Imran of Bairagarh. They are paid Rs 500 on daily basis for the work.

After the preliminary investigation police registered  a case under  4A Gambling Act was registered against the accused.

The police have started to search for the crime record of the accused. Police said that gambling and betting nexus operating in the area would be unearthed with the arrest of the three accused. The mobile numbers recovered from the three would be used to find the people who used to place the bets.
