Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that combination of sattvic (wholesome) food with yoga is the basis of a healthy and happy life. He urged to the children that along with appealing to the taste buds, they should eat food healthy for the body. He said that Yoga is India's gift to the world for a healthy lifestyle, which is for the welfare of humanity. This is the reason why people of every faith, caste and religion are adopting yoga all over the world.
Governor Patel was addressing 640 school children, teachers and yoga gurus representing 26 states from across the country participating in the inaugural function of the National Yoga Olympiad organised by the National Council of Educational Research and Training at Ravindra Bhavan. The National Yoga Olympiad has been held for the first time in a state capital outside the capital Delhi.
Governor Patel said that students are the foundation stone for keeping the nation's future safe and sound. Student life is the first step in a person's life, from where the foundation of his whole life is laid and the person begins to understand his responsibility towards the society. Yoga strengthens this foundation. Yoga Olympiad is a commendable effort to promote yoga, strengthen the foundation of our culture. Yoga is one such activity, the inclusion of which in our daily life assures a healthy life and overall well-being. He said that the experience of the importance of yoga to the students will make them aware of the practice of yoga. Will train them for a healthy lifestyle. It will enable the students to face the worldly dilemmas of future life. It will also show them the right path and take forward the legacy of Yoga.
Governor Patel said that the successful Prime Minister, global leader Narendra Modi has done an unprecedented task of giving the gift of Yoga to the whole world for the welfare of humanity. He appreciated India's chairmanship of G-20, organising the National Yoga Olympiad 2023 on the theme "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" in the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. He said that every person should take a vow to make yoga an integral part of their daily life. Inspire the people around you to continue to benefit from the good effects of yoga. Create such an atmosphere in the family and society, so that the yogic energy, like the air, spreads in the atmosphere, flows into every particle of this entire creation. The Governor inaugurated the National Yoga Olympiad by lighting the lamp. The Governor was welcomed by presenting saplings, Anga-Vastra and mementos.
Director National Council of Educational Research and Training Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani said in the welcome address that the children of Kendriya, Navodaya, Eklavya and CBSC schools etc. have participated in the Yoga Olympiad. Dean Co-ordination NCERT Professor Gauri Srivastava informed about the journey of the Olympiad. Principal Regional Institute of Education Bhopal Professor Jaideep Mandal proposed vote of thanks. The video message of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was broadcast in the programme. Children of CMS and RIE performed Saraswati Vandana.
