CM gives keys of 76 flats built on land freed from Atiq

Saturday, 01 July 2023 | PNS | Prayagraj

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over the keys of 76 flats built on the land freed from the possession of slain mafia Atiq Ahmed in Lukarganj to the beneficiaries here on Friday.

During this the chief minister interacted with 20 beneficiaries. He said, “Our government stands with the poor. Earlier governments used to stand with the mafia. Earlier, the government-protected mafia used to occupy lands. Now this cannot happen in our government.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also dedicated and laid the foundation stones of 226 projects worth Rs 768 crore.

Earlier, the chief minister along with Prayagraj Development Authority officers inspected the construction of the flats. After this the chief minister met the children who had come with their parents and gave chocolates to them.

During this, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ were present with the chief minister.

The chief minister said at the Leader Press Ground, “Before 2017, anyone used to occupy the land. Now houses for the poor are being built on the same land. Now no one bothers businessmen and the poor. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 54 lakh people have got houses. Earlier the state government did not want to provide houses to any poor. Soon 10 lakh people are going to get new houses.”

The chief minister said, “Under projects worth Rs 768 crore, houses are being given to the poor after freeing the land from the possession of the notorious mafias. To say, these are 76 houses, but there is a feeling behind it that they are being freed from the mafia.”

“Prayagraj is a mythological city. It has been the land of education and justice. Today, I would like to tell all the development authorities of the state that they should also build houses for the poor on the land occupied by mafia in their district,” he said.

The chief minister said, “A convention centre should also be built here. Prayagraj Development Authority should prepare a DPR (detailed project report). In February, we held a global investors’ summit. We received investments worth Rs 36 lakh crore. Had there been mafias in the state, it would have been difficult to get this investment. The Maha Kumbh to be held in 2025 in Prayagraj will be grand and divine.”

Yogi Adityanath said, “If we maintain the speed with which India’s economy is growing, then in 2027 India’s economy will become the third largest economy of the world. This country will not run by slogans. It will run by the work done. Today India and the image of Uttar Pradesh has changed.”

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “There can be no greater happiness than if the land freed from the mafia becomes the home for the poor. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s double-engine government is working for the poor. Pressing the lotus button means house to a poor person. Pressing the lotus button means sending the mafia to jail. That is why it is necessary to press the lotus button in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.”

The deputy chief minister said that soon 10 lakh new houses would be given to the people. “The previous government used to give houses only to a particular class,” he added.

Cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ said, “Seventy-six houses are being given today in a fair manner. Had there been a Samajwadi Party government, only people of a particular caste would have got these flats. Now everyone can see what ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ means. Earlier, jobs were also given to members of a particular caste.”

In 2021, the chief minister had announced plans to build flats on the land freed from the illegal occupation of Atiq Ahmed. In December 2021, the chief minister had come to Prayagraj to perform bhoomi pujan of these flats. The Prayagraj Development Authority completed this project in one and a half years and built 76 flats on the land freed Atiq.

A total of 6,071 people had applied for 76 flats built on 1,731 square metre.

PDA Vice-Chairman Arvind Singh Chauhan said the flats had been allotted to the eligible through lucky draw.

The flats have a covered area of 22.77 square metre. Under the scheme, the allottee will have to pay Rs 3.5 lakh to the PDA for the flat, of which Rs 45,000 will be paid at the time of allotment and the remaining Rs 3 lakh in installments of six months.
