CM LAUDS I&PR FOR BAGGING GOLD AT IITF (Pix)
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has appreciated the efforts of Team Odisha in the Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department for bagging Gold at IITF 2023. Departmental Minister Pradeep Kumar Amat, Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh and Director Saroj Samal met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday and showed the Gold award the Odisha Mandap received at the end of the 14-day international trade carnival in New Delhi.
NAIK APPOINTED ADDITIONAL CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER (Pix)
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Wefnesday appointed IAS officer Dr Noonsavath Thirumala Naik as the Additional Chief Electoral Officer of the State. Naik had been serving as Labour Commissioner, Odisha with additional charge of State Mission Director, Odisha Livelihoods Mission. Now, IAS officer Anupam Saha, State Project Director, OSEPA, with additional charge of Member Secretary, Mo School, has been allowed to remain in additional charge of Labour Commissioner.
DA CASE: OMC MANAGER GETS 2-YR RI
Cuttack: The Special Judge, Special Court, Cuttack on Wednesday convicted Rabinarayan Behura, former Manager, Kalarahangi Mines, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) in Sukinda of Jajpur district, and sentenced him to undergo two years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) for possession of disproportionate assets (DA). The court also directed Behura to pay fine of Rs 50,000 and in default to undergo further RI for six months more. The Vigilance would now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Behura following his conviction.
MAN GETS 10-YR RI FOR RAPING MINOR IN B’SWAR
Baleswar: Baleswar Special Judge POCSO Ranjan Kumar Sutar on Wednesday convicted an accused in a rape case and awarded him 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment. The judge also directed the convict to pay Rs 2,000 fine and in default to undergo another six months’ jail term. The convict N Ramarao had sexual assaulted the girl of the Simulia area in Baleswar district in 2018. The court further ordered Rs 4 lakh compensation for the victim to be paid through the District Legal Services Authority, said Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Panda.
