UT Admn allows only green crackers on Diwali, Gurpurb in Chandigarh
Chandigarh: Chandigarh administration on Friday decided to allow only eco-friendly green crackers during the upcoming festivals of Dussehra, Diwali and Gurpurb. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by UT administrator Banwarilal Purohit ahead of the festival season. Use of green crackers will be allowed on Diwali (November 12) from 8 pm to 10 pm, and from 4 am to 5 am and 9 pm to 10 pm on both Dussehra (October 24, during the burning of effigies) and Gurpurb (November 27).
AAP announces in-charge for all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana
Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday announced the names of in charge for all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, all of whom are ministers in the Bhagwant Mann-led government in Punjab. The party also announced names of in charge for all the 90 assembly seats in the BJP-JJP-ruled state. Lok Sabha and Haryana Assembly polls are scheduled to be held next year. Punjab ministers, who have been made in charge for Sonepat, Hisar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Rohtak, Ambala, Faridabad, Bhiwani-Mahendergarh, Gurugram and Sirsa seats respectively, are Harpal Singh Cheema, Baljinder Kaur, Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Harbhajan Singh, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Anmol Gagan Maan, Bram Shanker Jimpa, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Lal Chand Kataruchak and Balkar Singh. “Heartiest congratulations to all the Lok Sabha in-charges appointed in Haryana. With your support, we will further accelerate the campaign of change in Haryana,” AAP Haryana unit senior vice president Anurag Dhanda said in a post on X.

LEZs, designated areas where access for polluting vehicles is restricted, are a key strategy aimed at enhancing air quality. This event received invaluable support from the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) Skill Share program, a two-month initiative. Under the guidance of CENEX, a leading UK-based expert institution, this program will facilitate collaboration between city-level officials and CENEX experts to comprehensively assess the unique needs and current status of our city. The ultimate goal is to co-create a practical self-help toolkit tailored to LEZ implementation within Indian cities.
Haryana players shine bright in Asian Games, win 22 medals
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday highlighted the impressive performance of Haryana's athletes at the ongoing 19th Asian Games in China. He said that out of 655 Indian athletes participating in these games, 86 are from Haryana. These athletes have collectively secured 22 medals, including 7 gold, 3 silver, and 12 bronze. Haryana athletes have achieved 15 medals in individual events, consisting of 5 gold and 10 bronze medals. Additionally, they have contributed 7 medals in team events, comprising 2 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, said Khattar. The government has substantially raised the prize money, awarding Rs 3 crore to gold medal winners, Rs 1.5 crore to silver medalists, and Rs 75 lakh to bronze medalists. Additionally, participating athletes receive an incentive amount of Rs 7.5 lakh from the state government, shared Khattar.

Dubai company offers free drone service to HP govt to transport medical aid to remote areas
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government on Friday said a Dubai-based company has offered to transport without any delivery charge medicines and vaccines to remote areas of the state through drones.
The United Parcel Service (UPS) offered assistance to the disaster-hit state during a meeting of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu with UPS vice-president Christina Struller Da Costa and director Dinkar Singh late on Thursday evening. Expressing gratitude to the company for its proposal of advanced logistics technology to improve healthcare delivery in remote areas, Sukhu said that the Department of Digital Technology and Governance would develop a detailed proposal for the company, based on which the state government would decide on availing the services of UPS. Sukhu said that Himachal Pradesh has been grappling with extensive damage caused by the torrential rains and landslides during the monsoon season, resulting in huge losses to both public and private properties, according to the statement. The state government has been tirelessly working to assist affected individuals despite limited resources. It has allocated a relief package of Rs 4,500 crore, he added.
