BJD WORKERS’ MEETING HELD IN JATNI
Jatni: A BJD workers’ meeting was held at Jatni on Sunday presided over by advocate Arjun Parida. Initially, a silent prayer was held for those killed and injured in the train mishap at Baleswar district. Later, the implementation of various welfare schemes of the State Government was discussed. Parida appealed to the women workers to reach every household to strengthen the BJD under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik to ensure victory of the party in the forthcoming general election in 2024. Among others, Kabiraj Sahoo, Pabitra Parida, Kalyani Dalei, Pravati Sahoo, Youdhistir Sahoo, Niri Sahoo and many other BJD workers were present.
VETS DONATE RS 20L TO CMRF FOR TRAIN TRAGEDY VICTIMS
Bhubaneswar: Members of the Odisha Veterinary Service Association (OVSA) have donated a sum of Rs 20 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for support to the Baleswar train tragedy victims.
OVSA president Dr Jadunath Parida informed that a bank draft was handed over to the Chief Secretary. OVSA general secretary Dr Sankarshan Mahunta said the association has also planned to hold a blood donation camp shortly to meet the needs of the injured passengers.
KEONJHAR MUSLIM SOCIETY HOLDS BLOOD DONATION CAMP
Keonjhar: To help the injured passengers of Bahanaga train accident, the Keonjhar Muslim Society held a blood donation camp at the Jama Musque here on Tuesday and collected 110 units of blood. The programme was coordinated by Saiful Islam, Md Idris, Md Inthikab, Allam, Irshad, Md Ajmat, AR Sahabaj, SK Tohit, Md Washim, Danish Raja, Parvej Ahammed Arman Hussain, Bassidul Islam and others. Dr Ramakanta Munda, Akshaya Kumar Sahu, PRO, District Blood Bank Centre and staff Bhagirathi Mahakud.
CHILD MARRIAGE PREVENTED IN JAGATSINGHPUR
Jagatsinghpur: The Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Jagatsinghpur and Biridi blocks accompanied by police on Tuesday prevented a child marriage in a temple in Baredia village under Biridi block. A 14-year-old girl from Khordha district had been brought to the temple for marrying a 26-year-old man of Ghadimula village under Jagatsinghpur block. The CDPO and cops reached the spot and asked the marrying couple to produce their age proofs. The girl reported underage for marriage. The girl was produced before the District Child Welfare Committee, which sent her to a women's rehabilitation home.
AWARENESS FOR ABOLITION OF CHILD LABOUR
Jagatsinghpur: Jagatsinghpur Collector Parul Patwari on Tuesday launched a motorised chariot to tour across the district spreading awareness among people with regard to the abolition of child labour and the rights of children under Constitutional guarantee. The district labour department informed that the chariot would travel to each block headquarters and municipal areas and educate the public about the child laws and protection of children during their adolescence. People found deviating from the rules would be prosecuted under the laws.
AM/NS CELEBRATES ENVIRONMENT DAY
Paradip: In celebration of the World Environment Day by AM/NS, a tree plantation programme and a cleanup campaign were organised. The event was followed by a meeting on environmental protection held in front of the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Gate. The gathering included personalities like State Pollution Control Board Regional Officer Pushpak Behera, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Odisha ED Suresaji, Paradip Pellet Plant head USR Raju, AM/NS Paradip environment chief Akash Mahapatra and Kujang block Vice-President Gyanajit Swain.
ENVIRONMENTAL DAY HELD IN SHREE METTALLICK
Keonjhar: The World Environment Day was celebrated in the Shree Mettallick Plant at Aran under Bansapal block of Keonjhar district. Plant president Saroj Kumar Bishwal was chief guest. He said environmental pollution is a global issue and should be tackled both collectively as well as individually. Bishwal along with BN Prasad ,vice-president, Shishir Kumar Rout, Head (HR), Gyana Ranjan Swain, AGM (operation-pellet) and others planted saplings. There is target of planting 5,000 saplings this year.
ANTI-CHILD LABOUR RALLY IN BALANGIR
Balangir; Additional District Magistrate Mahendra Mahapatra flagged off a rally against child labour eradication in Balangir. Among others, CWC Chairperson Lambodar Deep and other labour officials and members of voluntary organizations participated in the rally that marched through the town.
