Three-tier security arrangements have been made for the Monsoon Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly which will begin on Friday.
Over 1,000 security personnel including 125 police officers have been deployed in and around the Assembly premises to ensure smooth functioning of the session and prevent any untoward situation, said an official on Thursday.
Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Bansal, Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarsi, ADG (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar and Director, Intelligence Sanjeeb Panda reviewed the security arrangements.
The DGP said the Bhubaneswar DCP would directly look after the security arrangements under the supervision of the Police Commissioner. He informed that 30 platoons of police force along with officers of the Commissionorate Police have been deployed.
While all roads leading towards the Assembly will remain closed for the general public during the session, separate arrangements have been made for smooth movement of the Chief Minister, Speaker and other VIPs to the House.
The opposition BJP and Congress and the ruling BJD will hold their legislature party meetings on Friday to chalk out strategies for the session.
The session will continue till October 4. The Supplementary Budget for the year 2023-24 will be presented on the first day and the Appropriation Bill on October 3.
