--Even as foundation day to be celebrated today
: The Madhusudan Law University is going to celebrate its second year of foundation after being upgraded from the Madhusudan Law College, one of the oldest law institutes in India.
On April 28 2021, the State Government had officially announced the up-gradation of the college to a university.
While the university is going to celebrate its second foundation day, yet all the 50 sanctioned posts of the professor, assistant professor and associate professor of the law varsity are lying vacant.
Besides, there are 13 posts vacant in nonteaching posts out of the sanctioned 20 posts.
Interestingly, the College Development Council (CDC) is yet to be formed for which the affiliated colleges or the ones which have applied for affiliation, are facing problems even after two years of upgradation to a university.
Even if the university has written to the Government for the same, it is yet to be initiated.
According to sources, there are no Government-appointed or permanent faculty. Only guest faculties are teaching the students in the university.
The students have alleged that the university doesn't have a hostel to accommodate the students for which they have to pay a high amount to live in a private hostel and mess.
Recently, the Orissa High Court has expressed its disappointment over the apathy of the university towards the various issues and had asked the Vice-Chancellor to give attention to the grievances of the students and make every endeavour to resolve the issues raised by the students.
"We are the last batch (2020-23) of Madhusudan Law College, after which the College was upgraded to a university, but the new administration has employed some incompetent faculties for which the teaching quality has degraded," said Bibekananda Behera, a 3-year LLB student.
