The Hazaribag administration conducted a sudden raid in Jai Prakash Naryan central jail on Tuesday night. The administration constituted 15 teams along with 15 magistrates. They seized some illegal and objectionable items in different wards.
The raid was headed by the Superintendent of Police Manoj Rattan Chothey and Deputy Development Commissioner Prerna Dixit jointly.
The team entered the jail and started a search operation. The team thoroughly checked the weapons room, canteen and all wards in which the prisoners are kept by the jail administration.
The team members seized knives, khaini, Gutkha, blades, iron pipe and other items. The raid was of three hours duration in the jail. The search team also seized a diary from the prisoners, in which hundred names have been written by the owner of the diary.
After the raid the SP said that it is routine work, we have generally raided the jail from time to time. He further said that we have seized some objectionable items. Further action will be taken after thoroughly checking the items.
DDC Prerna Dixit said that the team members had done excellent work during the raid. All the teams were monitored by the Sadar Sub Divisional Magistrate Vidya Bhushan Kumar. She further said that we will again plan the next raid in the jail very soon.
The team members along with SP and DDC entered the jail gate at 9.30 pm and came out after midnight.
