The Forest and Revenue Department in Chhattisgarh initiated action against a private landowner for felling trees illegally on Wednesday.
Vishwesh Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer of Raipur Forest Division, said the incident took place in Navagaon village. The trees felled were now being counted.
During inspection, it was found that the work of construction of the farm and illegal felling of trees was being done by the landowner.
The wood obtained on the spot is being transported to Tarri Depot. The equipment used for felling have been seized, the officer added.
