AAP Govt to misuse its brute majority to violate Opposition's rights in the House: Bajwa

Monday, 12 June 2023 | PNS | Chandigarh

In the wake of Aam Aadmi Party’s decision to bring a ‘privilege motion’ against the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa, the senior Congress leader on Sunday accused the AAP led Punjab Government of becoming intoxicated by power, and “now, it can't tell the difference between just and unjust”.

Bajwa, citing a news report relating to the AAP Government's plans to summon a special assembly session on June 19 and 20, said that in this special session, the AAP Government would “misuse its outright majority in the House and the rights of the opposition party would be violated”.

“The video of my speech is already there in the public domain, which itself is proof that I haven't uttered a single word against any community. With its brute majority in the House and its propaganda machinery, AAP is attempting to defame me. AAP Government has got nothing else to propagate against me,” said Bajwa.

Citing a video, Bajwa said that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal made very humiliating and immoral remarks about former Punjab Chief Minister belonging to the Dalit Community, Charanjit Singh Channi, when he (Kejriwal) was campaigning for the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab. Has Kejriwal apologised for that?

“Instead of bringing a privilege motion against me, the AAP government owes an explanation to the entire Punjabis and Dalit community in particular for why has it failed to take any action against the Cabinet Minister, Lal Chand Kataruchak, who has been facing the charges of gross sexual exploitation of a Dalit boy. The AAP has even failed to ensure the security of the victim and his family,” Bajwa added.

Direct Chd Police to Book Kataruchak, Arrest Him Immediately: SAD Appeals to Guv
Making an appeal to Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit to direct the Chandigarh Police to register a case against Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Sunday also demanded his immediate arrest on the charges of sexual exploitation of a young Dalit man following AAP Government’s insistence on shielding the Minister.

Majithia, who has also written to the UT Administrator on the issue, said that since the sexually explicit video of the Minister had been submitted to the Administrator here, he could take appropriate action on the same. “Also since the authenticity of the video has also been proven post forensic examination by the Chandigarh Police, it is a fit case for registration of a criminal case against the minister”.

SAD leader also called for an impartial probe into the entire issue so that the reason behind chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s love for Kataruchak and hatred for the victim was also brought out in the open. He also urged the Governor and all opposition parties to ensure Kataruchak was not allowed to sit in the Vidhan Sabha whose rich ideals he had defiled with his vile conduct.
