Bhopal Crime Branch has arrested eight accused involved in betting on IPL matches.
On Saturday, the police received information from a reliable source that some people were placing bets in a flat in the Misrod area. The crime branch team left after informing the officials and where 8 people were found betting at the mentioned address and when he was asked for a valid license for betting, he could not show it.
Police arrested all the accused and seized 27 mobiles, one TV, laptop and 34,250 cash from them.
According to the information, a campaign is being run against betting on the instructions of senior officials. On Saturday, the Crime Branch received information from reliable sources that some people are betting on IPL in a flat of Himalaya Residency, a three-storey building in Misrod area.
On the basis of information, the crime branch team left after giving information to the officers. The team reached the spot by laying siege to the Himalaya Residency, Bajramohan Chaurasia (39), Kapil Sharma (40) , Ankit Rai (31), Amit Sahu, Surendra Rai ( 38), Rakesh Kumar (36), Pradeep Kumar (30) , Jitendra Rohela (44) were caught.
A total of 27 mobile phones of Apple, Oppo, Realme, Vivo companies, one LED TV, one laptop and Rs 34,250 in cash have been recovered from the accused. The crime branch team is interrogating gamblers.
