The Auraiya police claimed to have recovered an abducted five-year-old boy within a few hours of the abduction but in Mau, a missing 3-year-old girl was found dead on Thursday.
According to reports from Auraiya, a 5-year-old child, Abhinav (Yug), was abducted by miscreants in Dibiyapur locality on Wednesday. On getting information about the abduction, the police swung into action and recovered the child in 12 hours and arrested three abductors.
Police said the mastermind of the abduction was the uncle of the boy.
Abhinav, son of Alok Dubey of Kanarpur, was playing outside the house when he was abducted. After abducting the child, the abductors called Alok on his mobile phone and demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh for the safe release of the child.
After the relatives of the boy informed the police about the abduction and the phone number by which the ransom call was made, Kanpur Zone's ADG Alok Singh and IG Range Prashant Kumar formed a team to recover the child. The photo of the child was also circulated in the nearby police stations. The police traced the location of the mobile phone of the abductors and reached the hideout and arrested them. They also recovered the boy safely.
Superintendent of Police Charu Nigam said that Alok’s cousin Vishal along with his friends carried out the abduction in greed of money.
In another incident in Mau, the body of a three-year-old girl, missing from Railway Colony in Kotwali area, was found in the drain of the colony on Thursday morning.
Arvind Yadav of Bhadev village in Prem Ka Pura under Mardah police station in Ghazipur district, works as a key man in the railways in Mau. His daughter, Namrata Yadav, had gone out of the quarter to buy some things. When she did not return to the quarter after a long time, the family members started searching for her. The father filed a missing complaint with the local police.
The police swung into action and started scanning the CCTV footage to locate the girl. While the police were still investigating, on Thursday morning it was reported that the body of the missing girl was lying in a water-filled pit adjacent to the boundary of the Railway colony.
Circle Officer (City) Dhananjay Mishra and City Magistrate Nitish Kumar Singh reached the spot along with a forensic team.
The cops are of the view that the girl might have fallen in the pit and died but the family alleged that she was murdered.
A case was registered and further investigations are on.
