A survey conducted in Chhattisgarh states that the condition of tobacco use in the state is worrisome. Generally, 8 percent of the young in the age group of 13-15 years are in the grip of tobacco addiction, says experts.
The experts were deliberating on creating awareness among youths and the public about the harmful effects of tobacco products, e-cigarettes and hookah bars.
A one-day orientation programme of officers and employees was organized at the New Circuit House, Raipur, an official communication said.
The National Tobacco Control Programme and the State Tobacco Control Unit organized the event.
State Nodal Officer Tobacco Control Program Dr. Kamlesh Jain said a Tobacco Monitoring App is used to monitor the situation.
Experts from New Delhi spoke on different legislations at the central and state level on use of tobacco products, hookah bars and e-cigarettes. The use of tobacco increases the risk of not only cancer but many other diseases.
