Former Law Minister (1977-79) and noted lawyer Shanti Bhushan passed away on Tuesday evening after a brief illness. He was the lead lawyer against then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for poll fraud, leading to her disqualification.
Bhushan, 97, a founding member of the BJP and the AAP, was part of many anti-corruption movements. Father of noted lawyers Prashant Bhushan and Jayant Bhushan, Bhushan founded Centre for Public Interest Litigation.
