After his nephew and senior leader Ajit Pawar and his supporters rebelled against him and joined hands with the BJP to become part of the Government in Maharashtra, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday attributed the developments to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and also to the recent charges of corruption made against his party by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Talking to media persons in Pune after Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister in the Shinde Sena-BJP alliance Government, Sharad Pawar said: “Some of my party leaders were uneasy about the investigations being carried out by the agencies like the ED. After the PM’s accusations they got more uneasy, which might have prompted them to take a decision they have taken today.
“Many of those who have gone out are in touch with me. Some have also told me how their signatures were taken. They have also said that they would make their stand clear in the next two to three days.”
Known for his sarcasm, Pawar “thanked” Modi for taking away his party leaders and MLAs against whom the latter had made allegations of corruption recently.
