Opp bloc INDIA likely to unveil logo at Mumbai meet

The logo of the new Opposition coalition INDIA is expected to be unveiled at the Mumbai gathering planned for August 31 and September 1, alongside the introduction of various other coordinating committees.

Sources said the logo of INDIA bloc may be unveiled on September 1 before the beginning of the day-long deliberations. Additionally, there are plans to announce the lineup of committees dedicated to tasks like communication and preparations for the 2024 general elections.

A joint secretariat for better coordination among the parties will also be announced soon, said the sources.

Approximately 80 leaders from more than 26 political parties are expected to attend the third meeting of the alliance.

At present, 26 parties are part of the grouping and a few more are set to join the alliance during the two-day meeting, sources added.

This Opposition bloc’s first meeting was held in Patna in June and the second in Bengaluru last month.

The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, known by its abbreviation INDIA, is an Opposition front announced by the leaders of 26 parties to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to challenge the incumbent BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The leaders of the INDIA front with Chief Ministers of five States, including West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin, as well as former Congress president Sonia Gandhi are expected to reach Mumbai on August 31.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will host dinner for the visiting dignitaries at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on August 31 while the lunch on the day of meeting is to be hosted by the Mumbai unit of the Congress. Uddhav led Shiv Sena and Congress are Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition partners along with the Sharad Pawar-led NCP.

Sources said the MVA leaders, including Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray and Ashok Chavan, are engaged in micro-level planning to ensure that the meeting is a success. In this regard a meeting was held on Sunday which was attended by Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Aaditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut, Congress leaders Varsha Gaikwad, Milind Deora and Naseem Khan, NCP leaders Narendra Verma, among others.

Meanwhile, setting aside speculations over his likely absence from the meeting, RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary confirmed that he would be attending the Mumbai meeting just like he did Bengaluru gathering. Simultaneously the NCP too has affirmed to make to make it at backdrop of grapevine both the regional parties in touch with ruling BJP as well.
