Jeetega Bharat: Opp war cry

Thursday, 20 July 2023 | Pioneer News Service | New Delhi

After 26 Opposition parties formed an alliance in Bengaluru on Tuesday and named it INDIA, they quickly unveiled their campaign tagline as “Jeetega Bharat” (India will win) to take on the BJP-led Government under Narendra Modi. This strategic move came amid speculations that the BJP or the NDA alliance might consider using a similar word or phrase to counter the Opposition campaign.

The Hindi tagline “Jeetega Bharat” is likely to be echoed in various regional languages, according to sources.

The Congress, from its official Twitter handle, shared the tagline with the message, “Judega Bharat, Jeetega India.”

During the meeting in Bengaluru on Tuesday, several leaders emphasised the inclusion of the word “Bharat” in the name or tagline of the alliance. As a result, it was collectively decided to incorporate it in the tagline, as confirmed by a senior leader.

The coinage of the tagline was a collaborative effort by multiple leaders, according to insider sources.

On Tuesday, the 26 Opposition parties came together to form a coalition named “Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA),” aiming to collectively contest the 2024 Lok Sabha polls against the ruling NDA.

Congress chief spokesman Jairam Ramesh expressed the essence of the Bharat Jodo Yatra with the message, “Judega Bharat. The essential message of the Bengaluru conclave of 26 political parties: Jeetega INDIA.”

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor also took to Twitter with a rhyming tweet in Hindi on ‘INDIA,’ stating, “NDA ki lagegi lanka, bajega ab INDIA ka danka. Jeetega India.”

Addressing the Press conference in Bengaluru after an extensive four-hour-long meeting of the 26 parties, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge confidently asserted, “We’ll fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unitedly, and we will emerge victorious.”

Kharge said a committee of 11 members would be formed for coordination, and a convenor would be selected during the meeting in Mumbai. Additionally, a secretariat in Delhi will be established to manage the alliance’s campaign, and specific committees will be formed to address various issues.
