In a move to enhance their strong defence ties, India and Sri Lanka carried out joint naval drill SLINEX-2023 there with Indian Navy ships INS Kiltan and INS Savitri participating in multifaceted maritime operations with Sri Lanka Navy ships SLNS Samudura and SLNS Vijayabahu from April six to eight, navy officials said here on Tuesday.
The sea phase exercises included tactical manoeuvres, helicopter operations, maritime interdiction operations, joint Special Forces operations, gunnery firing exercises, and a Search and Rescue exercise.
The Sea Phase ended with a customary steam past with the ships bidding farewell to each other, they said adding successful completion of SLINEX-23 further reinforced the deep engagement and strong ties between the two navies.
