Apparently embarrassed by a banner that been put up by his supporters in his home city of Nagpur projecting him as the “future chief minister of Maharashtra”, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday that Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde would continue as the chief minister of the state till the 2024 Assembly elections.
Seeking to play down the controversy over the banner that has surfaced in Nagpur projecting him as the “future chief minister of Maharashtra”, Fadnavis – who is currently away in Karnataka campaigning for the BJP in the State Assembly elections there – told media persons that if such a banner had indeed been put up in his home city, the banner would be removed.
Fadnavis said that Shinde, the leader of his party’s partner Shiv Sena in the alliance government in the state, would continue as the chief minister of Maharashtra till the October 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Fadnavis’ categorical statement came in the backdrop of surfacing of a banner in Nagpur projecting him as the future chief minister.
