The advocates boycotted the judicial work at Allahabad High Court as well as in the District Court in protest against the alleged lathicharge on the lawyers by the Hapur police. The strike call was given by the UP Bar Council and the Allahabad High Court Bar Association.  The advocates staged a demonstration at different gates of the High Court, while an effigy of the UP DGP was also torched in front of the main gate.

They demanded stern action against the police personnel involved in Hapur lathi charge, withdrawal of cases against lawyers and implementation of the Advocates Protection Act.

The district court lawyers also boycotted judicial work and took out a procession to lodge their protest.

The advocates had gone on a flash strike on August 30 to condemn the Hapur incident.  The litigants had to face  a  tough time owing to the advocates’ strike.
