To ensure effective mobility and enhance the quality of life for deprived people who have physical disabilities in the region, Changlang Battalion of Headquarters 25 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) distributed wheelchairs to physically challenged, walking sticks to blind and hearing aids to deaf individuals on March 7.
During interactions with villagers and village GBs of various villages in battalion area of responsibility, the need for medical assistance/ healthcare was felt. To develop a rapport with the local populace, the battalion took the initiative and identified basic healthcare requirements of destitute elderly living in the battalion area of responsibility and provided them with medical assistance in form of wheelchairs, walking sticks and hearing aids. The distribution camp organised at Battalion Headquarters, Changlang was graced by Colonel Surender Kumar, VSM, Commandant of the Battalion. The project was conceptualised and completed as a part of the Directorate General Assam Rifles Civic Action Project for the financial year 2021-2022.
Assam Rifles have always been committed to various development projects of the remote areas of the North East and have been providing basic amenities to the local populace. The distribution camp village, GBs and individuals with physical disabilities of various villages attended. Villagers expressed their gratitude and appreciated this initiative for expressing their grievances.
