Many people follow their passion, and few are successfully able to turn their passion into a thriving profession, especially one that is still growing in a country like India. Dr Shamoly Khera is a Public Speaking Coach — a profession that is still finding its footing in the desi world. While she is also an Author, a TV Presenter, a producer, she considers coaching as one of the most satisfying experiences. “One of the biggest challenges that I faced when I first started promoting my speaking workshops was when people would call and ask ‘So you teach English right?’ I think a big part of starting this coaching practice was to first create awareness of what a speaking coach does and help interested individuals align their goals accordingly,” she says.
Speak To Inspire is Dr Khera’s coaching academy that has trained thousands of participants to be confident speakers — both adults and teens. An initiative that she started in Dubai has now become international with active participants from Asia as well as the Middle East.
“The pandemic accelerated the reach of the courses, as well as widened my perspective of delivering sessions online. I am very old-school when it comes to workshops and doing physical sessions always gives me a deeper sense of connection with my participants and understanding their issues better. With the pandemic, I was successfully able to adapt and design the courses in a manner that emulated the physical experience into a virtual one and still connect at the same level of depth,” says Dr Khera.
