Urdu is Hindustani language, not associated with religion: Raina

Urdu is Hindustani language, it is not properly associateed with any religion, said expert Rajesh Raina. He was addressing the seminar on "Contribution of Kashmiri Pandits to Urdu language and literature" on Monday.

A Seminar, story recitation, mushaira and book release was organised by Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy, Sanskriti Parishad, Department of Culture.

At the beginning of the programme, Nusrat Mehdi, Director of the Academy, welcomed the Chief Guest Director of the programme Aditi Kumar Tripathi by presenting a book and Aditi Kumar Tripathi welcomed all the speakers and said in her speech that all those present in the seminar and Mushaira.

Giving information about the programme Nusrat Mehdi said that it is noteworthy that Kashmiri Pandits are working continuously on every genre of Urdu literature for many decades and they have made Urdu language very rich through their creativity but in Urdu language.

Senior litterateur and poet Brij Nath Betab, presiding over the seminar, said that Kashmiri Pandits live in every corner of the world and their role has been important on various surfaces quoting Urdu, but in the field of journalism, this role is more than in other fields. Kashmiri Pandits have played the most important role in the field of Urdu journalism.

Rajesh Raina Kashmir, the special guest of the seminar said that Urdu is Hindustani language and it is not proper to associate it with any religion, Kashmiri Pandits played their role in the development of Urdu language and literature by rising above religion and making Urdu language as official language in Kashmir.

 Kashmiri Pandits have played an important role in getting the status. On this occasion, the famous novelist of Kashmir Deepak Budki Srinagar recited his story in search of roots. Khalid Hussain Jammu said that among the Kashmiri Pandits who settled in other states, Pandit Brij Narayan Chakbast, Pandit Daya Shankar Naseem, Pandit Ratan Nath Sarshar, Pandit Anand Narayan Mulla and Gulzar Dehlvi etc. played an important role in the development of Urdu language and literature.

Mohd. Nauman Khan's contribution to the development of Urdu language and literature has been the contribution of litterateurs and poets belonging to different religions. Along with Muslims, Pandits, Sikhs, Kayasthas, Marwaris and especially Kashmiri Pandits have played an important role in this regard. Many of these names are such that without whose mention the history of Urdu language and literature is not complete.

Books of Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy were also released on this occasion, which included books by Arif Aziz, Khalid Abidi, Shahid Sagri, Yaqub Sabir, Abdul Aziz Roshan, Hanif Awal and Adarsh Dubey, as well as Deepak Budki's new novel "Apna Apna Sach" and book Asri Ruzhanaat were also released.
