Invited by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), Volleyball Federation of India president, KIIT & KISS founder and Kandhamal MP Prof Achyuta Samanta visited the FIVB headquarters in Switzerland on Thursday and had a discussion with FIVB president Dr Ary S Graça F on the recent developments in and the way ahead for volleyball in India.
FIVB officials appreciated the interventions of Prof Samanta since assuming office as the president of Volleyball Federation of India and assured all support for promotion of the sport in India. They also appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for promotion of all sports, including volleyball, in Odisha.
They too agreed to sign an MoU with the KISS and convert the Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium at KIIT into a full-fledged volleyball academy by providing equipments and foreign coaches for promotion of volleyball at the grassroots level in Odisha and India.
