EX-MLA GOPANARAYAN DAS PASSES AWAY  (Pix)

Baleswar: Former Baleswar Sadar MLA Gopanarayan Das passed away here on Thursday at the age of 74 following a cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. Das, a Congress leader, was associated with various organisations. People from various walks of life including elected representatives visited his residence and paid homage to him. During his period as a legislator, industrialisation including establishment of Birla Tyres took place in the district. Under his initiative, a women's college and a school were established. PCC president Sarat Patnaik expressed deep condolence over Das’ demise.

 

VEDANTA GETS 2 COALMINES IN STATE

New Delhi: The Vedanta Ltd has won the bid for two coalmines in Odisha through an e-auction for commercial mining purpose. The mines are Ghogharpalli and its Dip Extension, which have total reserves of 1,288.28 million tonnes.

 

ENGINEERS’ DAY CELEBRATED AT CUTTACK  (Pix)

Cuttack: The 55th Engineers' Day was celebrated by the Cuttack City Engineers’ Club at the Sri Ramchandra Bhavan here on Thursday. Chief guest CDA Chairman Anil Kumar Samal highlighted the developmental works undertaken in the city. Former EIC Gopal Krishna Behera spoke about Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya. Former Chief Engineer Dwipayan Patnaik attended as keynote speaker and inaugurated the club's magazine "Engineer's Voice". Club vice-president Er Sunyeswar Swain and  Er Purnachandra Das welcomed the participants. President Yadunath Mohapatra offered a vote of thanks.

 

6 SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ROAD MISHAP IN JAJPUR RD  (Pix)

Jajpur Road: In a road accident near Dhaneswar Chhak, NH-215, on Thursday, six persons were severely injured while several others sustained minor injuries. Bus ‘Seema’ going from Singhpur to Jajpur Road hit a divider due to negligence of the driver and turned turtle. The critically-injured persons were rushed to the Jajpur Road Community Health Centre. The Korai police reached the spot and started an investigation.   

 

SUSEELA OF B'PUR GETS CBSE BEST PRINCIPAL AWARD  (Pix)

Brahmapur: Dhavala Suseela, a native of Brahmapur who worked as a teacher for 17 years in DAV Public School here, recently received the CBSE National Award as “Best Principal- 2021-22” for her excellence in teaching and school administration. Earlier, Suseela had also served as Principal at Chinmay Vidyalaya, Thirubali and Dalmia Vidya Mandir, Rajagangpur for 12 years. Currently, she is working as Principal of Arshava School, Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. Suseela is wife of Professor PV Ravi, a former faculty member of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Brahmapur.

 

JSP MD VISITS COMPANY CSR FACILITIES AT ANGUL  (Pix)

Angul: Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) Managing Director Bimlendra Jha visited various CSR facilities of JSP in Angul. His visit started from “Asha the Hope”, where he interacted with 94 specially-abled children and parents. He visited the DAV Savitri Jindal School and interacted with students.

 

GOPALPUR PORT OPENS FREE PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE  (Pix)

Chhatrapur: The Gopalpur Ports Limited (GPL) opened a primary health checkup centre at Duburi Chhak under Kanamana panchayat. GPL CEO VJ Rao inaugurated the centre in the presence of Ajay Kumar Mishra, VP (HR/IR), Vikash Kumar, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chittaranjan Bahinipati, AVP, (HR/IR) and local villagers. Rao said the GPL is always committed to improve the health, education and sanitation of the port peripherals. The Gopalpur Port has undertaken significant work under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.  A number of projects involving development of infrastructure for the local community have been executed.

 

ELECTROPRENEUR PARK LAUNCHES ‘MINING CHALLENGE’ (Pix)

Bhubaneswar: The Electropreneur Park (EP) Bhubaneswar, a centre of Entrepreneurship in Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) set up by the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), launched a Mining Challenge Programme 2022 (MAP 2022) on September 9 inviting solutions from startups and innovators from across the country to address problems faced by the mining industry. MAP 2022 would endeavour to pave new avenues for co-creation and open corporate innovation between Electropreneur Park, corporate bodies and mining companies.
