MP Sports award ceremony today

Monday will be a special day for sportspersons and sports lovers of Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Shikhar Khel Alankaran ceremony will be held in the presence of Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Thakur and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia will also be present. The logo of Khelo India Youth Games-2022 will also be unveiled in the programme. Sports talents of the year 2020 will be honoured with Eklavya, Vikram, Vishwamitra, Prabhash Joshi and Lifetime Achievement Awards in this grand event to be held at Ravindra Bhavan at 6 pm.

The 5th edition of Khelo India Youth Games to be held from January 30 to February 11, 2023, will be held in eight cities of the state, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat and Khargone (Maheshwar). One game (Cycling) will be played in Delhi. For the first time water sports namely Kayaking Canoeing, Canoe Slalom and Rowing will be the part of this edition of Khelo India Youth Games.

Fencing has also been included for the first time in KIYG-2022 to be held in Madhya Pradesh. 27 games will be played across 23 game venues in 9 cities for 13 consecutive days. Around 6000 players, 303 international and 1089 national officials will be a part of this sports carnival. About 2,000 volunteers will be deployed at different game venues for Khelo India.

Eklavya Award- In this Sushma Verma - Kayaking-Canoeing, Tushita Singh - Soft Tennis, Sparsh Khare - Wushu, Arjun Singh - Horse Riding, Sunil Davar - Athletics, Gauranshi Sharma - Badminton (Divyang), Rammilan Yadav - Sailing, Ankit Sharma - Fencing, Anuradha Ahirwar - Archery, Preeti Rajak - Shooting, Shashank Patel - Taekwondo, Sadhna Sengar - Hockey and Dhruvraj Kurre - Powerlifting will be honored.

Vikram Award- include Vishwajit Singh - Canoe Slalom, Sunidhi Chouhan - Shooting, Nidhi Nanhet - Karate, Paridhi Joshi - Horse Riding, Manju Bamboriya - Boxing, Ekta Yadav - Sailing, Vivek Sagar Prasad - Hockey, Harshvardhan Tomar - Basketball, Pooja Malviya - Mallakhamb and Prachi Yadav – will be awarded for Para Canoe. Vishwamitra Award Shri Virender Dabas - Para Athletics and Swimming, Shri Richpal Singh Salaria for archery and Dr. Habib Hasan - will be awarded in hockey.

Late Prabhash Joshi Sports Award Vaishnavi Kahar- Mallakhamb and Life Time Achievement Award- Padma Shri and former President of Indore Table Tennis Association Abhay Chhajlani will be awarded.
