Kochery C Shibu, the bestselling and award-winning author of “Men and Dreams in the Dhauladhar” has come up with his new Fiction-Crime Thriller 'Faith and the Beloved'.
The book is a well-researched crime thriller that presents a riveting saga of love, lust, betrayal, and revenge. In the novel, Alice Cherozil, daughter of businesswoman Naithy Cherozil, kills her stepfather Tony D’Souza, who is connected to a terror outfit.
In a parallel storyline, the brother of Prem Rolland’s is killed by the police under mysterious circumstances, and he wants to avenge his brother’s death. As the lives of Naithy, Prem and Alice cross each other, they must retain their faith and protect their beloved ones, even at the cost of their own lives.
The author has maintained the suspense of the story till the end and it makes you hooked to the book. The storyline is interesting and gripping. Also, the author has described each character very well. Many of the characters in the novel are inspired from those whom he has encountered during his extensive travel.
The author explains his journey and the idea behind his novel -"The process of writing starts with character sketching. There were about 200 characters sketched in the anvil when I started writing Faith and the Beloved. There was an incident of a family being burned alive in a car in Colombo in the 80s during the civil war in Sri Lanka. This incident was much talked about those days and has stayed with me for decades. This was a trigger in the writing of this novel with an LTTE angle."
The author beautifully explains his writing style "I start writing with character sketching initially, then write a story skeleton based on one of the characters and choosing the character's story develops. Research and more research are the heart of it all."
