The State Government is preparing for solar power generation in the villages. Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA) and Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) have been given the responsibility of this work and villages are being visited in the State to promote solar energy. So far, about a hundred villages have been connected with solar energy under the scheme.
The plan is in the first phase and priority has been given to the villages which did not get electricity from the grid, those villages will get priority to this scheme. In such a situation, along with the survey in the first phase, hundred villages were connected with solar energy in the State so far. While for other villages JREDA and JSLPS are doing survey to provide facility of the scheme. In this, such villages will also be included, where electricity has been provided under solar power in the past as well. It has a remote and inaccessible village.
Under the scheme, one thousand villages of the State have to be equipped with solar energy. For which a target has been set for the next five years to connect them with the scheme. And, the target is to generate five thousand MW of solar power.
Apart from making the villages solar powered, JREDA and JSLPS will also work on other goals also. Its priority is to generate electricity from solar energy in the remote areas of the State. Along with this, street lights, connecting water sources with solar energy, high mast lights, roof top panels and others will be provided to the villagers. At the same time, work will be done on new dimensions of employment generation through solar energy in the State. Under this, work will be done on connecting machines with solar energy to small cottage industries on which work is in progress.
Two types of villages are being selected under this scheme in the State. The villages that have already been solar powered by JREDA. These villages are being included in this. At the same time, those villages which do not have electricity resources, those villages are being surveyed. Such villages are not being included in the scheme, where electricity is available from the grid.
