Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) said on Monday that the situation of electricity supply has improved and the people of the State Capital will get uninterrupted electricity supply for around 18 to 20 hours daily.

Replying to a delegation of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee  (JPCC) comprise of Alok Dubey, Lal Kishorenath Shadeo, Rajesh Gupta and others, Managing Director JBVNL, KK Verma said that there was some problem due to non-availability of electricity for two days, but now the situation has been controlled, the department is giving electricity to the people continuously for 18 to 20 hours. The State Government is completely giving power to the consumers of Jharkhand while the situation is very bad in other states.

The delegation met the Managing Director and submitted a memorandum to him.

The Managing Director further said that the demand for electricity has increased tremendously in rural areas, the department has been successful in providing electricity to every village, not only this, the purchase of AC has increased four times between January and April. The situation in Jharkhand is quite good as compared to other states. Congress leaders told MD KK Verma that it is true that the consumption of electricity increases in summer, so the department should keep trying for uninterrupted power supply and keep an eye on the situation so that the public does not face any problem, he added.

“We have urged the industrial consumers to use electricity in the industrial unit from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and keep the industrial unit closed from 6:00 pm to 10:00 am, same as the general consumers. It is also requested that if we do not use AC, geyser from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, then we will save 300 MW of electricity, which will benefit the people,” said Verma.

The Congress leaders said through their memorandum that due to the scorching heat, people are suffering on one hand, while on the other hand common life has been badly affected due to the poor power supply system, there is no zero power cut situation anywhere in the State.

Dubey said that in many districts of Jharkhand including Ranchi, people are getting electricity for 12 hours only, due to which the life of the people has become difficult, while the Government is also being defamed.

There has been a demand for uninterrupted power supplies in the State and a request has been requested to cut zero power to the entire State by the members of the delegation.
