The BJP on Saturday announced the name of its senior leader, Sambalpur MLA and former Minister Jaya Narayan Mishra as the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly.
Mishra replaced ailing Kalahandi MLA Pradipta Naik, who is undergoing treatment in New Delhi following post-Covid complications.
Jayanarayan is a strong western Odisha leader.
BJP State Deputy Prabhari Bijaya Pal Singh Tomar announced the name of Mishra in a Press conference held at the party State office here. He thanked the party for choosing Mishra as the LoP.
Mishra is a four-time MLA from Sambalpur and a former State Minister of Transport Commerce, Labour and Employment during 2004-2009.
