Prof Mahadeo Prasad Jaiswal, the first Director of IIM Sambalpur from April 3, 2017 to April 2, 2022 on Thursday again joined in his previous post after a gap of three months.
After successful completion of the first tenure for five years, he was transferred to New Delhi. Since he played a remarkable role for the development of the new institute and brought it to international standards, the Government of India reappointed him for a second time.
Prof Jaiswal played a vital role in shifting IIM-S from campus of a private engineering college to the present campus in Sambalpur University with a better study atmosphere and infrastructure. He also played a key role in having the permanent campus in Basantpur, near Chipilima area whose foundation stone was laid by PM Narendra Modi virtually.
He was also instrumental in opening new subjects here that were well accepted and appreciated all over the country. Looking at his achievements, a good number of people from Sambalpur and western Odisha, educationists, civil societies requested through letters, emails, tweets to the Central Government and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his second term.
