Indian Railways becoming enviroment friendly and energy efficient

Indian Railways is becoming environment friendly and energy efficient. Under the Green Initiative, Indian Railways is working immensely to save energy from the consumption of diesel fuel.

The state of Madhya Pradesh holds special importance in the green initiative of Indian Railways. In the last years, the state of Madhya Pradesh has also been in the forefront of progressive development in railways with a positive impact on the environment.

For the first time in Indian Railways a 1.7 MW capacity solar plant has been installed at Bina, which provides power to OHE directly from 25 kV AC traction. Rooftop Solar Power Plants of 8500 KW capacity have been installed at more than 65 locations.

 Washing of train coaches is being done through Automatic Coach Washing Plant at Jabalpur and Rani Kamlapati stations.

Sewage Treatment Plants have been provided at Jabalpur, Khandwa and CRWS Bhopal. Effluent treatment plants have been provided at Jabalpur, Rani Kamlapati, Gwalior and CRWS Bhopal.

 100 percent bio toilet has been provided to more than 2000 coaches in Jabalpur, Bhopal, Gwalior, Ratlam and Khandwa and all buildings of 519 railway stations.

Water Recycling Plant has been made available in Jabalpur, Bhopal, Itarsi, Katni, Satna and Gwalior. Rain water harvesting plants have also been established at more than 70 places.
