The traffic on Brajrajnagar-Jharsuguda NH-49 came to a standstill when irate people blocked it at Gandhi-Chowk after a doctor’s vehicle ran over a minor girl on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Tulasi Mahananda (6), daughter of Desh Mahananda and Pinki Mahananda of Shastrinagar village in Brajrajnagar town.
The girl’s mother along with locals went to the Brajrajnagar police station demanding strong action against the doctor. The mother laid her daughter’s body at the doorstep of the police station and lodged a case against the accused.
However, they called off the agitation and the road blockade was withdrawn after police reached the accident spot and assured to take necessary action against the doctor.
